Colours
Balayage / Foilyage
Balayage is an increasingly popular hair colouring technique that leaves the hair looking naturally sun-kissed with softer, less obvious re-growth. The term balayage comes from the French word for "sweeping" as it is a freehand colouring technique where the colour is painted on and blended by hand.
Foilyage is a technique of creating a balayage using foils to create a brighter and more amplified effect.
Highlights
Highlighting is a popular colouring technique that leaves the hair brighter and more vibrant from root to tip. Highlighted hair can be transformed to any colour or shade (within reason) as long as it is lighter than your base colour. Unlike balayage, in highlights the hair is coloured evenly throughout its length. This is achieved with a technique of weaving the hair before using foils to apply the colour.
Lowlights
Lowlights are sections of the hair that are dyed one or two shades darker than your base colour. They can be incorporated with other colouring techniques and are used to add natural looking volume and dimension to your hair, by creating the effect of shadows and depth throughout.
Babylights
Babylights are a colouring technique very similar to highlights with a subtle difference. Whilst the method of applying the colour is the same, babylights require a more delicate weaving technique, so the colour is applied to much finer sections of hair. Despite this, babylights are extremely versatile and are perfect for a range of finishes, from a scattered "sun-kissed" look all the way to a platinum blonde.
Root Stretch / Root Touch Up
Root stretch is a colouring technique that embraces your natural hair colour. Similar to a balayage, a root stretch transitions your hair from its natural base colour to the highlighted colour, providing a natural looking, low maintainence finish without sharp re-growth lines. A root melt is a variation of this technique.
Root touch up is a colouring technique designed to target re-growth lines. The roots of the hair are coloured to match the previously coloured hair. This acts to refresh the hair colour as well as allowing the colour to last longer.
T-Section
T-section (also known as T-bar) is a colouring technique designed to lighten the top of your hair. The T-section technique is to apply colour only to hair along the parting and either side of the face, leaving the back of your hair uncoloured. The T-section is a great method of refreshing previously coloured hair, especially when darker regrowth lines have become visible.
